Are you ready to watch advertising on Netflix to pay your subscription half the price? This should be the proposal made by Netflix in the coming weeks to attract new subscribers and give new impetus to its growth, which has been undermined in recent quarters.

According to the latest information published by Bloomberg, the American streaming platform has set a rate of between 7 and 9 dollars per month in the United States for its future advertising-funded affordable offering. A particularly aggressive offer compared to the classic formula, the price of which amounts to $15.49 across the Atlantic and €13.49 in France. Based on the company’s current practices, the price of this new low-cost offer could be between 6 and 8 euros in France.

The formula, similar to that at 7.99 dollars offered by its competitor Disney +, should be deployed in half a dozen first markets, whose name has not been filtered, by the end of the year. It should logically offer high definition content, unlike the current “Essential” subscription, which only offers low definition programs for $9.99 per month (8.99 euros in France).

Still according to Bloomberg, Netflix plans to include approximately 4 minutes of advertising per hour of program viewed. Ads would basically run at the beginning and middle of movies and series but not at the end. Children’s programs and Netflix original content should be spared from ads. On the other hand, this new formula should have some limitations compared to the classic offer, such as the impossibility of downloading programs to view them offline. Nor should it offer the entire Netflix catalog.
