New Mexico Tourism Department hands out $3.87 million for tourism advertising – Santa Fe New Mexican

Tourism Santa Fe, Santa Fe County and the Santa Fe Children’s Museum got a share of $3.87 million awarded mostly to counties, cities, towns and villages by the state Tourism Department.

The Cooperative Advertising Grant Program includes a 2-to-1 grant from the 41 recipients to bring the joint investment in tourism advertising to a record $5.8 million, the tourism department reported.

“It is essential we retain a strong investment in tourism promotion as destinations and tourism organizations continue to restore their own tourism advertising,” Tourism Department Secretary Jen Paul Schroer said in a news release.

Communities affected by wildfires received substantial awards, including $205,252 for Las Vegas, N.M.; $553,062 for Ruidoso and $45,294 for Los Alamos County. Santa Fe County and Tourism Santa Fe split $246,231, the tourism department reported.

Other cities getting advertising funding include Alamogordo, Deming, Elephant Butte, Española, Gallup, Roswell, Truth or Consequences and Tucumcari. Smaller communities funded include Mesilla, Red River, Silver City, Taos, Los Lunas and Questa.
